1.概述

Methylsulfonic acid (MSA) is an important intermediate in organic synthesis and medicine. It is often used in organic synthesis as solvent, alkylation and lipidation reagent.MSA is also an ideal leveler and brightener。In recent years, the application in the electroplating industry is more and more extensive, and is gradually replacing the traditional fluoroborate and fluorosilicic acid plating solution, so MSA is a chemical product with a very promising development。

2.Market demand and forecast

As a strong organic acid, MSA can be used as a solvent, as well as a catalyst for alkylation, esterification and electrode reactions。With the wide range of applications, its production capacity and output are also growing rapidly。

At present, the total global MSA production capacity is 500,000 tons, of which the domestic production capacity is about 100,000 tons。While the domestic market demand needs about 150,000 tons, MSA market prospects are very good。

3.1 Production process overview

At present, the main production processes of MSA at home and abroad are synthesis and electrolysis, and the main synthesis methods are methyl sulfonyl chloride hydrolysis, methyl mercaptan oxidation, dimethyl disulfide oxidation and so on。

3.2. Selection of process scheme

This project uses nitric acid as an oxidizing agent to oxidize dimethyl disulfide to produce mesylate. The process is simple, the source of raw materials is convenient, and the cost is relatively low. The production process is the proprietary technology of our institute。
